FRKelly lecturing on new IP Diploma at Law Society

Shane Smyth, David Brophy and Niamh Hall from FRKelly are among the lecturers on the new Intellectual Property & Information Technology Law Diploma at the Law Society of Ireland commencing on Tuesday 20th October 2009.

This is the first course of its kind in the area of Intellectual Property that has been run by the Law Society's Diploma Programme. The course is to provide a comprehensive overview to the law and practice in this area together with discussion on the current issues, case law and trends. It will cover Trade Mark, Copyright, Design, Patent and Information technology law and practice.

Shane Smyth will give an introduction to the law of trade marks, Niamh Hall will cover dealings, surrender, revocations and invalidity while David Brophy will focus on patents. In addition to this there will be a number of practical workshops session that will consolidate what is dealt with in the lectures and one workshop that will focus on guiding students to prepare for the Trade Mark Agent exam that is normally held in March of every year by the Patents Office.
