Ireland to ratify London Agreement
Ireland is to ratify the London Agreement meaning that it will no longer be necessary to translate into English the complete text of a granted European Patent which was published in French or German. The claims of such a patent are always published in all three official languages and so will always be available in English.
The ratification will require an amendment to the Patents Act 1992, and the government has announced that it will publish a bill to effect this amendment (along with 19 other pieces of legislation that are deemed urgent, before the summer recess in July 2011.
