Shane Smyth and Niamh Hall to speak at the INTA European Conference on Trademarks and the Internet, Dublin.

Shane Smyth, Managing Partner of FRKelly and Niamh Hall, Trade Mark Associate with FRKelly, will be speaking at the INTA European conference, which comes to Dublin this December, to discuss the implications of the Max Planck Study which has proposed sweeping changes in European trade mark law and practice.

The new President of OHIM, Antonio Campinos will give the keynote address and the speakers include Honorable Mrs. Justice Fidelma Macken, Paul Gallagher SC and in-house lawyers from Anheuser-Busch InBev S.A. and LEGO Juris A/S, as well as leading practitioners from Ireland, the UK, Germany, Denmark and Poland. The sessions will deal with consistency and harmonization of EU trade mark law and practice including decisions; proposed changes to exceptions, limitations and defences; alleged cluttering of the Community and National Trade Mark Registers; proposed changes to acquired distinctiveness and jurisdiction and enforcement issues.
