Tara Jennings

Tara handles a wide range of patent issues, and has considerable experience in drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications. She has particular expertise in chemical, pharmaceutical, and food science technologies, but also has expertise in prosecuting patent applications in the biotechnological area. Her experience is wide-ranging and she manages patent portfolios including US, European and PCT patent applications. Her expertise also includes filing and prosecuting supplementary protection certificates (SPCs), and matters relating to infringement, due diligence and patent searches.
Tara joined FRKelly in 2000, having graduated from the National University of Ireland, Galway with a first class honours degree in Chemistry & Applied Chemistry. She qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2004 having passed all of her European exams in the first sitting. She is also a registered Irish Patent Attorney, Community Trade Mark Attorney and Irish Trade Mark Attorney, and is an active member of the Education Committee of the Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (APTMA). Tara has, since 2004, tutored patent trainees on many aspects of European and Irish patent law. She has also written a number of articles on various patent matters including Irish and UK case law, and changes to the European Patent system.
Tara has been involved with a patent portfolio of a large multinational company that specialises in food science, in particular bio-ingredients for use in the food and beverage industry. She works with large US firms in the prosecution of patent applications before the European Patent Office. Tara has also been involved in European opposition work, in technical areas ranging from chemical detergents to micro-organisms used in food products.
