B.Sc(Hons), M.Ind.Eng., European Patent Attorney, Chartered Physicist, Chartered Engineer, Community Trade Mark Attorney.
Philip has extensive experience in Intellectual Property Matters and specialises primarily in Patents in particular, in the areas of physics, electronics and general engineering. He has responsibility for the European Intellectual Property interests of of a number of U.S. Corporations.
He has acted in a number of litigious matters in Europe and in particular has co-ordinated litigation in a number of countries for a US Corporation. Further, he has acted in both ex-parte and inter-partes matters at the European Patent Office both before the Oppositions Division and the Boards of Appeal. His work is primarily split between original drafting, filing and prosecution work for local clients and European filing and prosecution work on behalf of foreign clients.
Philip joined FRKelly in 1981. He holds an Honours Degree in Physics from Queens University Belfast and a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering from University College Dublin. He is a Chartered Physicist, a Chartered Engineer and is a member of the Institute of Physics and the Institution of Engineers in Ireland. Philip also holds memberships of LES, AIPPI and FICPI. Within FICPI Philip is the President of the Admission Commission and is a former Rapporteur General Of the FICPI CET commission.
