Donal was awarded an honours degree in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics from University College Dublin. He then completed a Ph.D. in Molecular Oncology in the Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology at Queen's University Belfast. Donal's research focused on investigating the interaction of pro-survival and pro-apoptotic signalling pathways in human cancer. In particular, the study involved delineating the molecular mechanism underlying the response of human cancer cells to tumour-targeted therapies, such as low molecular weight agents and immunological-based therapies. He joined the firm in 2007, and deals with patent issues across a range of areas, specialising in the fields of biological and biomedical sciences.
