Áine is currently a Trainee European Patent Attorney at FRKelly, joining in March 2023.
Prior to joining FRKelly, Áine worked as a Senior Executive in business representation and advocacy, representing companies in the Irish medtech sector at national and EU level with a particular focus on regulatory affairs and the EU Medical Device and IVD Regulations. Áine has specific competency advocating on medtech policy issues before the HPRA, Department of Health and DETE nationally and before EU Parliament and EU Commission members in Brussels
Áine also previously worked at a large multinational U.S. medtech company as an R&D scientist, gaining significant expertise in antibody-based immunoassay development in the area of cancer diagnosis and staging.
Áine obtained a Primary Degree in Natural Science, a Masters in Molecular Medicine, a Postgraduate Diploma in Quality Improvement and a Ph.D. in Clinical Medicine, all from the University of Dublin, Trinity College.
Áine went on to complete postdoctoral research with internationally recognised research teams at both the Centre National de la Recherche Scienitifque (C.N.R.S.), Marseille, France and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland before moving to industry. Subsequently, Áine obtained a Diploma in Management from DIT and Certificate in Mediation accredited by the Mediators Institute of Ireland.
