Chris’ Story:

Chris is currently a Trainee European Patent Attorney at FRKelly, joining in July 2018. Since joining FRKelly, Chris has worked for numerous start-ups, universities, SMEs and multinational clients on a range of patent issues.

Prior to joining FRKelly, Chris worked as an IP Analyst at a Magic Circle law firm in Belfast and London. There, he provided scientific and technical support to the IP lawyers, assisting in high-profile matters involving companies in many different clinical and technological areas, and blockbuster drugs at the forefront of the life sciences sector.

Chris also previously worked in the Pharmaceutical industry as a Research & Development Scientist, gaining expertise in antibody-based multi-analyte immunoassay development.

Chris graduated from Ulster University with a honours degree in Biomedical Science, giving him broad exposure to various life sciences disciplines including biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, genetics and immunology. In his final year, he carried out a research project studying the effect of gut hormones in type 2 diabetes.

Chris then obtained his PhD, also from Ulster University in 2014. His research focused primarily on novel therapies for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, co-authoring various peer-reviewed publications in the process.
