Gearoid is a part-qualified UK and Irish Patent Attorney based in our Dublin office since joining FRKelly in 2018. Gearoid’s areas of expertise include physics, mechanics, optics, semiconductor technology, quantum technology, telecommunications, and software-related inventions.
Gearoid is a student member of the Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys (CIPA) in the UK, and the Association of Patent and Trademark Attorneys (APTMA) in Ireland.
Gearoid graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a First Class degree in Physics in 2017, and subsequently completed a Masters degree in Applied Mathematics at the University of Cambridge in 2018. His undergraduate thesis, for which he received a First, reviewed contemporary techniques in microscopy including contemporary optical setups, image processing algorithms and the use of quantum dot technology in medical applications. This followed from a funded research placement conducted at Queen Mary University of London. Gearoid’s Masters included courses on quantum information theory and contemporary optical technology.
